Understanding Alcohol Testing for Family Law Proceedings

When testing for alcohol in family law settings, it’s important to know the latest tests available and how they differ from older tests. In the case of blood testing, older tests include CDT, LFT & MCV which are indirect markers of alcohol consumption - as such, they are subject to a number of additional factors, such as smoking, liver diseases, medications, genetic factors. PEth on the other hand is a direct marker, and is rising as the preferred method of blood testing.

Hair strand tests are a robust method for measuring alcohol consumption. However, hair testing comes with a variety of limitations that we will cover in this webinar.

To close the webinar, Sharnette will discuss her recently published paper that evaluates PEth, EtG and EtPa as methods for evaluating alcohol consumption in civil cases in England, 2022-2023.
